i had a driving test today. in the pouring rain. in a manual drive rental. the first stop sign i came to i rolled -- the tiniest bit. of course, i was noted for it. apparently, as the instructor told me, this maneuver is called "the california roll". i thought of sushi. i like sushi.

generally, i don't miss the rain, but sometimes i do miss running in it -- along the seawall, the water reflecting the moody grey skies of the pacific northwest. sea lions, herons, and beavers keeping me company.
